Staying Heart Healthy

KIWI SLICED AND SHAPED LIKE HEARTS

Now that January is over, gyms are getting less crowded as the effect of New Year’s Resolutions starts to subside. However, if you’re reading this, it’s likely that you’re more attuned to a healthy routine than most. Keep up the good work into February and beyond!

February is Heart Health month.  Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women in the United States.  What better month to focus on getting your aerobic exercise program up and running?  Here are a few ways you can incorporate Heart Healthy activities into your routine:

  • Walking: As simple as it is, walking is one of the best ways to get your heart rate moving, and use the large muscles in your body in a continuous way. Next time you’re about to get in the car to go somewhere close, consider whether you can walk there instead! Building walking into your regular routine is a great way to make it a daily part of your life.

  • Stairs: Do you have the opportunity to choose between the elevator and stairs at work, at the mall, or downtown? Next time you have the choice, consider taking the stairs to give yourself a workout in the middle of your daily routine.

  • Biking: Biking, whether outside or inside, is an amazing way to participate in an aerobic exercise. At All American Fitness, we carry popular exercise bike like the Life Fitness IC4 Indoor Cycle. Indoor cycles let you stay consistent with your biking, no matter the weather or temperature outside.

  • Ellipticals: Ellipticals provide one of the best all-body aerobic exercises around. Cutting edge cross-trainer ellipticals like the Life Fitness FS4 provide the latest in technology and performance.
